​Mr Richard Milton is a consultant Thoracic Surgeon at the Leeds Major Trauma Centre with a particular interest in major trauma. We discuss how this interest developed and his ongoing educational and pre-hospital roles. The discussion then turns to the challenges of resuscitative thoracotomy and how to maximise the chances of a successful outcome.
