Pre-hospital services

Almost all patients managed within the WYMTN ODN are initially cared for by Yorkshire Ambulance Service. A small number on the peripheries of the network may initially be cared for by North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

Whilst most patients are brought by ambulance, some arrive by air - mostly via Yorkshire Air Ambulance and to a lesser extent the Great North Air Ambulance. Some patients, particularly children, will either make their own way to hospital or be brought by friends and family.
