Secondary transfers

Stable patients who do not require immediate transfer to the MTC for life / limb saving interventions should be initially admitted to the trauma unit ward and then transferred as a secondary transfer. It is not in the best interests of these patients to remain for prolonged periods within the Emergency Department of the trauma unit whilst awaiting a non-emergency ambulance transfer.

To arrange secondary transfer you should liaise with the relevant specialty team. Contact information is available here
